A bit about the ceremonies
Mehendi
19.04.2024 (16.00 hrs. to 18.00 hrs.)
The Mehendi ceremony is a joyful and vibrant pre-wedding ritual in many Indian weddings, traditionally held a day before the wedding. During this celebration, intricate henna designs are applied to the bride’s hands and feet, symbolizing beauty, love, and good luck for her marital journey. Surrounded by family and friends, the event is filled with music, dancing, and festivities, as the bride’s mehendi is seen as a sign of blessings and prosperity for the couple’s future together..

Lighting a diya or a candle at dusk, is in itself a spiritual moment. It dispels darkness, offers prayer, creates luminosity, invites light, welcomes romance. At The Rajbari Bawali diyas are lit every evening.
Sangeet / Cocktail Night
19.04.2024 (20.00 hrs. until we drop)
The Sangeet is a joyful pre-wedding tradition where friends and family come together to sing, dance, and celebrate love. Expect a fusion of Bengali tunes, Bollywood hits, and lots of laughter. To keep the energy flowing, we’ll also have a cocktail hour with drinks. Let’s make it a night to remember!

Haldi
20.04.2024 (11.00 hrs. to 14.00 hrs.)
The Haldi ceremony (known as Gaye Holud in Bengali) is a cherished pre-wedding ritual in Bengali weddings. During this ceremony, a turmeric paste is applied to the bride and groom's skin by family and friends. The turmeric is believed to purify and bless the couple, bringing good fortune and enhancing their natural beauty before the wedding. The event is filled with joy, music, and laughter, as it marks the beginning of the final celebrations leading up to the wedding day.

Wedding Ceremony
20.04.2024 (17.00 - 18.00 hrs.)
The ceremony, known as Biye, is marked by unique customs such as the Shubho Drishti, where the bride and groom first see each other while surrounded by loved ones. The bride is carried on a piri (wooden stool) and circles the groom, symbolizing the union of two souls. The couple then exchanges garlands and performs sacred rituals around the fire, seeking blessings for a harmonious and prosperous married life. With its blend of cultural richness and emotional depth, a Bengali wedding is truly a memorable and spiritual occasion..
